With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region 2, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Brantley lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a strong Linden team by a score of 41-0. Over the past two seasons the Bulldogs have gone 22-4 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Brantley has gone a combined 66-12. Their 85.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 1A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Brantley has gone a combined 256-65. Their 80.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 1A and 3rd in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs are led by head coach Ashley Kilcrease who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 33-7 over the past three seasons at Brantley. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. The Bulldogs should be considered one of the favorites for the Region 2 championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulldogs open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Straughn on Friday, August 26 at Antioch Municipal Stadium. Last year the Straughn Tigers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 4A region 2. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Munford by a score of 25-15. Brantley and Straughn have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 9-5-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2016 with Straughn winning by a score of 49-48. Brantley returns 1A All-State Senior athlete Jacob Free. He was named to the first team last season. The Bulldogs also return Senior receiver Tommy Spivey.
