 2016 Preview 


       Last year Baker finished sixth in Class 7A region 1 with a 4-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Baker has gone a combined 34-28. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Baker has not won much with a record of 60-192. Their 24.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 7A and 366th in the AHSAA.

       The Hornets are led by head coach Danny Smith who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-4 record in his first season at Baker. The Hornets have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Smith.

       Coach Smith's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 6-4 (60.0%).

       The Hornets enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak.

      The Baker Hornets will play in Class 7A region 1 during the 2016 season.

       The Hornets have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 1 this season.

       The Hornets open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Saraland on Friday, August 19 at Hornet Field. Last year the Saraland Spartans finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class 6A region 1. The Spartans lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Benjamin Russell by a score of 41-10.

       Baker and Saraland have met a total of 1 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 0-1-0 record against the Spartans. They last met in 2016 with Baker winning by a score of 41-20.
