 2016 Preview 


       Last year Fairhope finished fifth in Class 7A region 1 with a 4-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Fairhope has gone a combined 51-20. Their 72.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 7A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Fairhope has managed to compile a record of 152-123. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 7A and 130th in the AHSAA.

       The Pirates are led by head coach Tim Carter who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-4 record in his first season at Fairhope. The Pirates have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Carter.

       Coach Carter's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen seasons stands at 104-57 (64.6%). His 104 wins rank 47th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Carter's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times and won four region championships.

      

      The Fairhope Pirates will play in Class 7A region 1 during the 2016 season.

       The Pirates should contend for a playoff spot in Region 1 this season.

       The Pirates open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent St. Pauls on Friday, August 19 at E.E. Delaney Field. Last year the St. Pauls Saints finished with an overall record of 13-2 and in second place in Class 5A region 1. The won the Class 5A State Championship last season when they defeated Mortimer Jordan by a score of 41-26 in the Super Six finals in Tuscaloosa.

       Fairhope and St. Pauls have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Pirates have a 5-9-0 record against the Saints. They last met in 2016 with St. Pauls winning by a score of 41-14.

  








Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
