 2026 Preview 


       McKenzie completed the 2025 season with a 12-1 record. The Tigers cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year McKenzie captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. McKenzie lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Leroy team by a score of 60-38.

       The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2002. The 682 points scored by the Tigers last year were a team record in a single season.

       The high-scoring McKenzie offense ranked 1st in the AHSAA. They averaged 52.5 points a game.

       Over the past two seasons the Tigers have Finished 22-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, McKenzie has gone a combined 97-73. Their 57.1% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 1A over the past sixteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, McKenzie has managed to compile a record of 145-122. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 1A and 155th in the AHSAA.

Head Coach:
       The Tigers are led by head coach Brian Bradford who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 27-8 over the past three seasons at McKenzie. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Bradford. Over the course of his career, Coach Bradford's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won two region championships.

Season Outlook:

       The McKenzie Tigers will play in Class 1A region four during the 2026 season.

      

       The Tigers enter the 2026 season riding a 16 game regular season winning streak.

       The Tigers will be a lot younger in 2026 as most of their production on offense graduated this spring.

       Ayden Willsey rushed for 1,509 yards and 25 TDs and will return for his Senior season.

    The Tigers are considered one of the favorites for the region four championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Highland Home on Friday, August 28 at Clay Stadium. Last year the Highland Home Flying Squadron finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class 2A region three. The Flying Squadron lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Reeltown by a score of 55-19.

       McKenzie and Highland Home have met a total of 28 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 16-12-0 record against the Flying Squadron. They last met in 2015 with McKenzie winning by a score of 61-20.

The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
