 2026 Preview

Addison completed the 2025 season with a 12-2 record. Last year Addison captured the region seven title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Bulldogs since the 2018 season. Addison made a nice playoff run in 2025, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Wadley team by the score of 22-14.

The Bulldogs won as many games as in any season since 2016. The 591 points scored by the Bulldogs last year were a team record in a single season. The Bulldogs hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Hastings saw improvement as they won twelve games following a 6-5 record in 2024.

The high-scoring Addison offense ranked 18th in the AHSAA. They averaged 42.2 points a game.

The Bulldogs defense dominated most opponents as they ranked 35th in the AHSAA. The defense gave up just 14.4 points a game.

As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Addison has gone a combined 135-53. Their 71.8% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 1A over the past sixteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Addison has finished a combined 217-79. Their 73.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 1A and 28th in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs have been successful on the football field with twenty-three winning seasons during this time.

Head Coach:
The Bulldogs are led by head coach Mark Hastings who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 12-2 record in his first season at Addison. The Bulldogs saw improvement from a 6-5 record the season before coach Hastings arrived. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Hastings. His 172 wins rank 28th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Hastings' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seventeen times and won six region championships.

Season Outlook:

The Addison Bulldogs will play in Class 1A region seven during the 2026 season.

The Bulldogs will once again have an explosive offense as they did last season. Finding young players along the offensive line will be key for Addison.

Elijah Roberts completed 100 of 176 passes for 1,603 yards and 23 TDs and will return for his Senior season. Roberts also rushed for 930 yards and another 19 touchdowns.

The Bulldogs are considered one of the favorites for the region seven championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Bulldogs are making another deep run into the playoffs.

Players to Watch in 2026:
Offense:  (7) - QB Elijah Roberts, RB Zane Smith, Rec Scout Flynn, Rec Judah Wilkins, TE Major Snoddy, LG Noah Daffron, RT Kyeler Hill

Defense:  (9) - DB Conner Lane DB Silas Frazier, LB Scout Flynn, LB Joey Wilson, LB Major Snoddy, LB Judah Flynn, DE Micheal Lee, DT Tucker Hayes, DT Skylar Cleghorn

  Newcomers:  LT Noah Brenton

The Coach had this to say:
We lost 3 offensive linemen but we have had good competition to replace them. Conner Lane will have more opportunities on offense as a receiver, Elijah Roberts will play more FS, staying away from injuries will be a key. We need several less experienced guys to step up to have any chance to repeat or improve on last years success.

Season Opener:
The Bulldogs open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Winston County on Friday, August 21 at Malcolm Blake Stadium. Last year the Winston County Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class 2A region eight. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Pleasant Valley by a score of 40-28.

Addison and Winston County have met a total of 90 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 53-36-1 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2025 with Addison winning by a score of 41-20.
