Cherokee finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Cherokee finished seventh in Class 1A region seven with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Cherokee was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Indians want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.4 points a game. Cherokee struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 39.8 points a game. Since 2010, Cherokee has gone a combined 48-117. Their 29.1% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 1A over the past sixteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Cherokee has not won much with a record of 75-181. Their 29.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 1A and 358th in the AHSAA. The Indians have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. Head Coach: The Indians are led by head coach Ben Floyd who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-48 over the past six seasons at Cherokee. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Floyd. Season Outlook: The Cherokee Indians will play in Class 1A region seven during the 2026 season. The Indians have no where to go but up in 2026. They should be more experienced in 2206 with several players returning on both sides of the football. This season, the Indians will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region seven. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
