Montevallo finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Montevallo finished seventh in Class 5A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The defense allowed a team record 417 points last season. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Montevallo averaged scoring just 11.1 points a game. The Bulldogs also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 41.7 points a game. The Bulldogs would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, Montevallo has gone a combined 76-93. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 36th in Class 4A over the past sixteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Montevallo has managed to compile a record of 118-142. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 4A and 238th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Bulldogs are led by head coach Garrett Langer who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 2-18 over the past two seasons at Montevallo. The Bulldogs have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Langer. Season Outlook: The Montevallo Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region three during the 2026 season. The Bulldogs enter the 2026 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. Two wins over the past couple of seasons at Montevallo have the Bulldogs hoping for better times in 2026. They have a long road ahead of them if they have any hopes of turning the football program into a winner anytime soon it seems. This season, the Bulldogs will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three.
Players to Watch in 2026: Offense: (7) - Jordan McCary (QB), Caleb Merriweather (RB), Jaedon Rutledge (RB/WR), Jace Lewis (WR), Houston Hilty (OL), Michael Saffold (OL), Mason Fowler (OL) Defense: (5) - Jackson Holsomback (LB), Matthew Smith (LB), Kamar Ross (LB), Jayshun Shepherd (DL), Quintez Hall (DB) Newcomers: Markelle Hudson (9th) DB, Kelim Hiff (12th) WR, Logan Pennington (OL) The Coach had this to say: We are looking to improve from last season. The region realignment and new non region schedule should help some along with some experienced players returning. In year three I feel our team culture is the best it has been in some time. We are excited about the upcoming season! Season Opener: The Bulldogs open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Tarrant on Friday, August 21 at Tarrant Stadium. Last year the Tarrant Wildcats finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in eighth place in Class 4A region four. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Helena by a score of 48-7.
