2026 Preview

Brilliant finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Brilliant finished seventh in Class 1A region five with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.        The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Brilliant averaged scoring just 11.5 points a game. The Tigers also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 41.9 points a game.        Since 2010, the Brilliant football program has struggled with a record of 41-124.        Over the past 25 seasons, Brilliant has not won much with a record of 81-178. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 1A and 348th in the AHSAA. Head Coach:        The Tigers are led by head coach Hayden Bryant who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 6-14 over the past two seasons at Brilliant. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bryant. Season Outlook:        The Brilliant Tigers will play in Class 1A region five during the 2026 season.                   The Tigers will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season.     Brilliant simply does not have the numbers to be competitive on the football field at this time. With just 60 students, the Tigers are one of the smallest schools playing the game and have little chance of being successful.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2026 season at home against non-region opponent Phillips Bear Creek on Friday, August 21 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Phillips Bear Creek Bears finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 1A region seven. The Bears ended last season on a positive note with a win over Tharptown by a score of 46-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Brilliant and Phillips Bear Creek have met a total of 72 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 49-18-5 record against the Bears. They last met in 2025 with Brilliant winning by a score of 30-28.
