 2022 Preview

J.B. Pennington completed the 2021 season with a 8-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region six, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. J.B. Pennington reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Fyffe by a score of 43-14.

Since 2010, J.B. Pennington has gone a combined 53-79. Their 40.2% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, J.B. Pennington has managed to compile a record of 104-166. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 3A and 304th in the AHSAA.

The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Caleb Miles as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Miles was an assistant coach on the staff at Pennington last season.

The J.B. Pennington Tigers will play in Class 3A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 3A but move from region six over to region seven.

The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2015 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2022.

The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hayden on Friday, August 19 at Robert W. Reid Stadium. Last year the Hayden Wildcats finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 5A region six.

J.B. Pennington and Hayden have met a total of 33 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 24-8-1 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2003 with Hayden winning by a score of 24-13.

J.B. Pennington returns 3A All-State Senior receiver Jaxon Timmerman. He was named to the second team last season.
