 2022 Preview 


       Elba completed the 2021 season with a 10-2 record. Last year Elba captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class 2A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-1 record. Elba reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Highland Home by a score of 32-0.

       The high-scoring Elba offense ranked 20th in the AHSAA. They averaged 40.4 points a game.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Elba has gone a combined 117-32. Their 78.5% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Elba has managed to compile a record of 180-108. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 1A and 78th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2006.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Marc Sieving who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-6 over the past two seasons at Elba. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Sieving.

       Coach Sieving's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 16-6 (72.7%).

       The Elba Tigers will play in Class 1A region two during the 2022 season. The Tigers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 2A to 1A. They will compete in region two this year.

       The Tigers enter the 2022 season riding a 7 game regular season winning streak. Elba has won 6 consecutive region games.

       While most teams rebuild during the off season, Elba has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent New Brockton on Friday, August 19 at Gamecck Stadium. Last year the New Brockton Gamecocks finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 3A region two.

       Elba and New Brockton have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 15-1-0 record against the Gamecocks. They last met in 2017 with Elba winning by a score of 32-21.
