McKenzie completed the 2021 season with a 6-4 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region one, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. McKenzie's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Keith by a score of 43-7. Since 2010, McKenzie has gone a combined 69-57. Their 54.8% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, McKenzie has managed to compile a record of 120-143. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 1A and 232nd in the AHSAA. The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Ezell Powell as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Watters served on the staff at Thomasville last season. Coach Powell's overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 64-27 (70.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Powell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won four region championships. The McKenzie Tigers will play in Class 1A region two during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 1A but move from region one over to region two. The Tigers enter the 2022 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. The Tigers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent G.W. Long on Friday, August 19 at Rebel Stadium. Last year the G.W. Long Rebels finished with an overall record of 8-2 and in third place in Class 2A region two. The Rebels lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to B.B. Comer by a score of 37-29. McKenzie and G.W. Long have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 3-0-0 record against the Rebels.
