2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Goshen finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Goshen finished seventh in Class 3A region four with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The defense allowed a team record 414 points last season. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Goshen averaged scoring just 3.5 points a game. The Eagles also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 41.4 points a game. The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-18 record. Since 2010, Goshen has gone a combined 69-66. Their 51.1% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Goshen has managed to compile a record of 138-135. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 2A and 188th in the AHSAA. The Eagles are led by head coach Don Moore who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Goshen. The Eagles saw improvement from a 0-9 record the season before coach Moore arrived. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Moore. Coach Moore's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 16-26 (38.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Moore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times . The Goshen Eagles will play in Class 2A region three during the 2022 season. The Eagles may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 3A to 2A. They will compete in region three this year. It will be an uphill battle for the Eagles if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region three this season. After just a single win last year, Goshen will be hopeful of winning a few more games this season. The Eagles open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Daleville on Friday, August 19 at Goshen Field. Last year the Daleville Warhawks finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 3A region two. Goshen and Daleville have met a total of 11 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-6-3 record against the Warhawks. They last met in 2003 with Daleville winning by a score of 32-13. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
