Luverne completed the 2021 season with a 9-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region three, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Luverne reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Lanett by a score of 33-0. The defense was very stingy last season as Luverne ranked 10th in the AHSAA. The Bulldogs lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Sweet Water by a score of 21-18. Luverne and Brantley have met a total of 91 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 56-32-3 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2020 with Brantley winning by a score of 49-0. Luverne returns 2A All-State Junior linebacker Lakendrick Jordan.
