 2016 Preview

Linden completed the 2015 season with a 10-3 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region four, the Patriots earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Linden made a nice playoff run in 2015, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Maplesville team by the score of 50-19.

As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Linden has gone a combined 62-17. Their 78.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Linden has managed to compile a record of 184-98. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 1A and 56th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 1999.

The Patriots are led by head coach Andro Williams who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 97-22 over the past nine seasons at Linden. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Williams.

Coach Williams' overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 97-22 (81.5%).

If Linden can win three games this season, Coach Williams will reach the 100 win milestone.

The Linden Patriots will play in Class 1A region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Patriots remain in 1A but move from region four over to region one.

The Patriots enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak.

The Patriots should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Patriots are making another deep run into the playoffs. The Patriots have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2006 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

The Patriots open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Hillcrest Evergreen on Friday, August 26 at Brooks Memorial Stadium. Last year the Hillcrest Evergreen Jaguars finished with an overall record of 8-6 and in fourth place in Class 3A region one. The Jaguars lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Bayside Academy by a score of 36-0.

Linden and Hillcrest Evergreen have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 2-2-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in with

Linden returns 1A All-State Senior offensive lineman Brandon Bates. He was named to the first team last season. The Patriots also return Senior defensive lineman DaVontae Poole. He was named to the first team. The Patriots also return Senior defensive back Dequan Charleston. He was named to the first team.
