2019 Semifinals of the Playoffs

The Super Seven is here! Here are a few tidbits and notes from this week's action.

   *   UMS-Wright owns the state's longest winning streak at thirty-two games. The Bulldogs defeated Andalusia 21-14 to reach the Super Seven in search of a three peat. They will face Jacksonville on Thursday for the title.

   *   Fyffe leads the AHSAA schools with a 40 game home winning streak after knocking off Collinsville 21-0. The Red Devil defense has allowed more than seven points in a game only once this season.

   *   UMS-Wright holds onto the longest road winning streak having won 16 consecutive following their win over Andalusia on the home turf. Chambers Academy leads the AISA schools with a streak of 25 straight road victories.

   *   Fyffe also has the longest current streak for scoring 20 or more points in a game. The Red Devils have put up at least 20 points in 60 consecutive games dating back to 2015.

   *   Fyffe continues to extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 263 games without being shutout.

   *   Only four teams remain undefeated in the AHSAA. Mars Hill has never been 14-0 in any season. UMS-Wright, Fyffe and Lanett also have not felt the sting of defeat this season.

   *   Two teams remain alive that finished the regular season with 6-4 records. Spanish Fort and Mobile Christian lost four games during the season only to come alive once the post season began. Spanish Fort was actually a #4 seed in Region one.

   *   Here is a list of the Super Seven participants and the last time they played in a state championship game.

         Pleasant Grove (2014) - Central Clay County (2018)
         UMS-Wright (2018) - Jacksonville (Never)
         Mobile Christian (2016) - Piedmont (2018)

         Lanett (2017) - Mars Hill (2018)

   *   Jacksonville, Pleasant Grove and Mobile Christian have never won a AHSAA playoff state championship. Thompson last won in 1982, Central Phenix City (2018), Spanish Fort (2015), Oxford (1993), Central Clay County (2018), UMS-Wright (2018), Piedmont (2016), Reeltown (2009), Fyffe (2016), Lanett (2017) and Mars Hill (2018). UMS-Wright, Thompson, Fyffe, Piedmont, Central Clay County and Mars Hill are seeking to repeat as state champions.

   *   Jacksonville won a semifinal playoff game for the first time in their school's history. This will be the school's first ever championship game.

   *   UMS-Wright is 8-1 in championship games. Spanish Fort is 4-0.

   *   T.R. Miller had hoped to accomplish something never done since the beginning of the Super Six. Win four straight games on the road to reach the championship game. The Tigers came up short on Friday against Mobile Christian.

   *   Safe travels to all the fans heading to Auburn this week. I hope the weather holds out and the games are great. Good luck to all the teams as they try to win a state championship for their hometowns..

 * UMS-Wright has won a team record 32 consecutive games since 11/10/2017.
 * Fyffe has won a team record 29 consecutive games since 8/31/2018.
 * Mars Hill has won a team record 24 consecutive games since 10/5/2018.

 * Bibb County set a team record with a 12-1 record. That ties the previous mark of 12-1-0 in 2011.

 * Catholic Montgomery set a team record with a 12-1 record. That tops the previous mark of 11-3-0 in 1989.

 * Central Clay County set a team record with a 12-2 record. That ties the previous mark of 12-3-0 in 2018.

 * Chickasaw set a team record with a 6-4 record. That tops the previous mark of 5-6-0 in 2018.

 * Collinsville set a team record with a 12-2 record. That ties the previous mark of 12-1-0 in 1983.

 * Decatur Heritage Christian set a team record with a 12-1 record. That ties the previous mark of 12-2-0 in 2015.

 * Helena set a team record with a 9-2 record. That ties the previous mark of 9-3-0 in 2015.

 * Jacksonville set a team record with a 12-2 record. That tops the previous mark of 11-1-0 in 2018.

 * Mars Hill set a team record with a 14-0 record. That ties the previous mark of 14-1-0 in 2018.

 * North Sand Mountain set a team record with a 9-4 record. That ties the previous mark of 9-3-0 in 2013.

 * Northside set a team record with a 11-2 record. That tops the previous mark of 9-2-0 in 2018.

 * Paul Bryant set a team record with a 7-4 record. That tops the previous mark of 6-5-0 in 2017.

 * Pike Road set a team record with a 11-1 record. That tops the previous mark of 6-5-0 in 2018.

 * Pleasant Grove set a team record with a 13-1 record. That tops the previous mark of 12-3-0 in 2014.

 * Priceville set a team record with a 8-4 record. That ties the previous mark of 8-3-0 in 2015.

 * Southeastern set a team record with a 5-6 record. That tops the previous mark of 4-6-0 in 2018.

 * Spring Garden set a team record with a 11-2 record. That ties the previous mark of 11-2-0 in 2018.
