Week Seven

The race to the playoffs is underway with four weeks remaining in the regular season. Here are a few tidbits from this week's football action around the state.

   *  UMS-Wright has the longest winning streak in the AHSAA having posted 11 consecutive victories following a 45-7 victory over ranked Hillcrest Evergreen. Monroe Academy leads the AISA with a 21 game winning streak following a 49-28 win over Macon-East.

   *   Barbour County has a string of forty-six consecutive losses over the past few years. They fell to Houston County by a score of 49-0.

   *   The longest region losing streak belongs to Brindlee Mountain with a streak of 36 straight region losses following a 63-0 region loss to Sylvania. Southeastern broke their string of 40 consecutive region losses with a 26-18 win over Sulligent.

   *   The Fyffe Red Devils have won 34 straight regular season games after beating Sand Rock 48-7 on Friday.

   *   The longest region winning streak belongs to the Yellow Jackets of McGill-Toolen with a streak of 30 straight region victories after handing Foley a 44-0 thumping.

   *   The Volunteers of Monroe Academy have a string of 38 consecutive home wins following their latest home victory Friday. Fyffe leads the AHSAA schools with a 26 game home winning streak.

   *   Rogers now has the longest road winning streak among the AHSAA schools at 13 games. Chambers Academy leads the AISA schools with a 21 game road winning streak.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 56 consecutive games after putting up 70 on Ellwood Christian Friday night.

   *   The Fyffe Blue Devils continue to score each and every game. They extend their streak of consecutive games scoring to 240 games.

   *  Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 204 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs defeated Tuscaloosa County 35-7.

   *  Saraland and Westminster Christian are 7-0 for the first time in their respective school's histories. Cottage Hill Christian are winners of their first six games for the first time in school history. Pike Liberal Arts is 8-0 for the first time.

   *  Jamie Riggs moves past Waldon Tucker with 310 career coaching wins after Houston Academy defeated Slocomb 27-24. Coach Riggs has quickly turned around the Raiders who finished last season 0-10. The Raiders are 5-1 this year. Coaching does make a difference.

   *  North Jackson throttled Fairview 78-12 Friday. The Chiefs scored more than 70 points for the third time this season. They have scored 383 points in six games for an average of 63.8 points each week. The record for scoring in the regular season is over 90 years old set by the Tuscaloosa Black Bears in 1926 when they averaged 59.1 points over a nine game season. The most points scored in any regular season belongs to Demopolis in 2004 when they scored 577 in 10 games. Edgewood Academy scored 594 in 2014 in the AISA.

 * Mars Hill set a team record in a win 69-0 over Vina breaking the previous record set in a victory over Phillips Bear Creek 64-0 on 9/14/2018.

 * Midfield set a team record in a win 70-12 over Hanceville breaking the previous record set in a victory over Montevallo 69-6 on 10/4/2013.

 * North Jackson set a team record in a win 78-12 over Fairview breaking the previous record set in a victory over Danville 77-0 on 9/7/2018.

 * Ohatchee set a team record in a win 70-22 over West End Walnut Grove breaking the previous record set in a victory over White Plains 68-14 on 8/26/2016.

 * Southside Gadsden set a team record in a win 63-0 over Douglas tying the previous record set when they defeated Brewer 63-20 on 10/26/2012.

 * St. John Paul II set a team record in a win 56-6 over West Morgan breaking the previous record set in a victory over East Lawrence 51-0 on 8/31/2018.

 * Alabama Christian set a team record in a 74-44 loss to Headland breaking the previous record set in a loss to Beauregard 70-21 on 10/18/2013.

 * Northridge set a team record in a 70-3 loss to Hueytown breaking the previous record set in a loss to Hoover 56-14 on 9/20/2013.


Margin of Victory in a game

 * Hokes Bluff set a team record by defeating Ashville 52-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Crossville 48-0 on 9/28/2007.

 * Mars Hill set a team record by defeating Vina 69-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Shoals Christian 64-0 on 10/28/2016.

 * Southside Gadsden set a team record by defeating Douglas 63-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Glencoe 56-0 on 11/3/2017.

 * Sylvania set a team record by defeating Brindlee Mountain 63-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated North Sand Mountain 57-0 on 9/16/1994.

 * Brindlee Mountain set a team record in a loss 63-0 to Sylvania breaking the previous record set when they lost to Southeastern 60-0 on 8/31/2018.

 * Enterprise set a team record in a loss 48-0 to Central Phenix City tying the previous record set when they lost to Central Phenix City 55-7 on 10/6/2017.

 * Lee-Scott Academy set a team record in a loss 55-0 to Tuscaloosa Academy breaking the previous record set when they lost to Springwood 53-0 on 8/30/1985.
