Week 4


 

The 2014 season is well underway. Here are a few tidbits from the fourth week of action.

  *   Head football coach Buddy Anderson at Vestavia Hills surpassed Waldon Tucker for the most wins in Alabama high school football history with 310 after his team defeated Hewitt-Trussville 15-3 Friday night 14-7. 

  *    The new teams are making statements. Helena is 3-0 after defeating Dallas County 24-0 on Friday to pick up their second shutout in a row. Chickasaw got their second straight victory with a 46-16 win over Marengo.

  *   Clay-Chalkville is on an amazing streak. They have a string of games where they have scored at least 20 points that has reached 51 straight. Edgewood Academy has a good streak of their own. They have scored more than 20 points in 47 consecutive games following a 69-6 blowout of Evangel Christian. The state record is held by none other than Hoover with a string of 56 games.

  *   Spanish Fort extended their AHSAA leading consecutive game winning streak to 28 straight after knocking off LeFlore 40-6.

  *   Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 48 game winning streak.

  *   Butler opened the season with another loss and the Rebels have lost 32 consecutive games. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

  *   Bullock County has also lost 34 consecutive region games in a row.

  *   Maplesville extended their regular season winning streak to 18 games. They are tied with Spanish Fort for the AHSAA lead. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA with a string of 36 straight victories.

  *   Tanner has a string of 37 consecutive games in which they have come out a winner in region play. Monroe Academy leads the AISA with a streak of 35 consecutive region wins.

  *   Maplesville has won 36 consecutive home games after winning on the road against Keith 55-0 on Saturday.

  *   Trinity, off to an 1-3 start with a tough schedule, will try to extend their streak of 32 straight winning seasons. The Wildcats last suffered through a losing season way back in 1981 when they finished with a 4-6 record. They last opened a season 0-3 in 1979.

  *   The T.R. Miller Tigers have an amazing streak of 346 games without being shutout after beating Cottage Hill Christian 55-14.

  *   Woodville defeated Vina 51-26 to open the season 3-0 for the first time in team history. It is also the first time the team has won three straight games in the short nine years they have fielded a football team.

  *   Coach Jeff Foshee at Stanhope Elmore remains at 99 wins after the Mustangs lost to Dothan 20-14 Friday.

 * Edgewood Academy set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Evangel Christian Academy 69-6.
 * Chickasaw set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Marengo 46-16.

 * Decatur Heritage Christian set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Waterloo 55-6.

 * Chickasaw set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Marengo 46-16.

 * Northside Methodist Academy set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Springwood 14-48.
 * Westbrook Christian set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Glencoe 0-56.

 * Geneva County set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Ariton 61-22.
 * Holt set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Montevallo 48-51.
 * Montevallo set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Holt 51-48.
 * Sand Rock set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating North Sand Mountain 56-22.

 * Spanish Fort has won a team record 28 consecutive games since 10/11/2012.
