The Semi-Finals of the State Playoffs


 

The Super Seven has arrived. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

  *    Dale County, Pleasant Grove, Hubbertville and Saraland will be playing in their initial State Championship game in Auburn. While Hoover will be playing in their 14th championship game in 15 years.

  *    The Hoover Bucs can tie Hazelwood for the most titles if they can defeat Prattville on Wednesday. The Bucs currently have ten championships. This will be the Bucs 18th championship game appearance already a record.

  *    Madison Academy will be appearing in their fourth consecutive Championship game.

  *    There are still five undefeated 14-0 team remaining along with two 13-0 teams.

  *    Clay-Chalkville defeated Florence 35-21 in the semi-finals. The Cougars extended their state record streak of scoring at least 20 points that has reached 61 straight.

  *   If Fyffe scores 39 points in the Class 2A title game against Elba, the Red Devils will set a state record for points scored in a season. They have scored 723 and the current record is held by Demopolis with 761 points in 2004.

 * Fyffe has won a team record 14 consecutive games since 8/29/2014.

 * Pleasant Grove has won a team record 11 consecutive games since 9/19/2014.
 * Saraland has won a team record 10 consecutive games since 9/26/2014.

 * Dale County has never started 14-0 in a season.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
