Week 1

The 2014 season began this past weekend. Here are a few tidbits from the first week of action.

   *  Hoover saw their 30 game winning streak go down to Central of Miami FL. Madison Academy also lost and ended their steak of 25 consecutive victories. The now leader for consecutive wins is Spanish Fort with a string of 25 straight.

   *  Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 45 game winning streak. Coach Bobby Carr will be gunning for a fifth consecutive championship when they open the season this Friday night.

   *   Butler hopes to break a streak on the other end of the spectrum when they begin play this week. The Rebels have lost 29 consecutive games. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 32 consecutive region games in a row.

   *  The Hoover Bucs also saw their streak of 21 straight regular season wins come to an end. Lanett and Madison Academy also ended strings of 15 consecutive wins. The new leader is Maplesville who did not play in week one with a streak of 15 games. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA with a string of 33 straight victories.

   *   Tanner and Monroe Academy each have a streak of 35 consecutive region wins in a row.

   *   Maplesville has won 35 consecutive home games.

   *   Trinity will try to extend their streak of 32 straight winning seasons. The Wildcats last suffered through a losing season way back in 1981 when they finished with a 4-6 record.

   *   T.R. Miller hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their state record of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 343 games without being shutout.
