 2018 Preview

Anniston finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Anniston finished sixth in Class 4A region five with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Anniston was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Bulldogs want to be competitive. They only averaged 14.5 points a game.

Since 2010, Anniston has gone a combined 40-47. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Anniston has managed to compile a record of 128-132. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 4A and 193rd in the AHSAA.

The Bulldogs will be under the direction of new head football coach Rico White as they enter the 2018 season.

Coach White's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 30-72 (29.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach White's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

The Anniston Bulldogs will play in Class 4A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Bulldogs remain in 4A but move from region five over to region six.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Bulldogs could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region six this season. Anniston missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2018.

The Bulldogs open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Catholic Montgomery on Friday, August 31 at Catholic Field. Last year the Catholic Montgomery Knights finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 4A region two. The Knights lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to UMS-Wright by a score of 28-14.

This will be the second meeting between Anniston and Catholic Montgomery on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 0-1-0 record against the Knights. They last met in with
