Flomaton finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Flomaton finished seventh in Class 3A region one with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Hurricanes lost as many games as in any season since 2005. The Hurricanes hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just three games which followed a 10-3 record in 2015. Since 2010, Flomaton has gone a combined 48-31. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 3A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Flomaton has managed to compile a record of 151-127. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 3A and 140th in the AHSAA. The Hurricanes are led by head coach Doug Vickery Jr. who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 73-48 over the past eleven seasons at Flomaton. Under his direction the Hurricanes have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Vickery Jr.. Coach Vickery Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in seventeen season stands at 99-86 (53.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Vickery Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times . Coach Vickery Jr. can top the 100 win milestone early in the season with just one more victory. The Flomaton Hurricanes will play in Class 3A region one during the 2017 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Hurricanes if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. The Hurricanes open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Jay FL on Friday, August 25 at Hurricane Field. Flomaton and Jay FL have met a total of 68 times on the football field.
