 2017 Preview

Billingsley completed the 2016 season with a 4-5 record. Last year Billingsley just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region four with a 3-3 region record.

Billingsley took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2010.

Since 2010, Billingsley has gone a combined 46-32. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 2A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Billingsley has managed to compile a record of 169-118. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 2A and 100th in the AHSAA.

The Bears are led by head coach Tyson McLean who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 43-25 over the past six seasons at Billingsley. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won one region crown with Coach McLean.

Coach McLean's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 43-25 (63.2%).

The Billingsley Bears will play in Class 2A region four during the 2017 season.

The Bears will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. Billingsley came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

The Bears open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Flomaton on Friday, September 1 at Mims Field. Last year the Flomaton Hurricanes finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 3A region one. The Hurricanes closed out the regular season with a loss to Luverne by a score of 29-28.

Billingsley and Flomaton have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bears have a 0-2-0 record against the Hurricanes. They last met in 2011 with Flomaton winning by a score of 53-16.
