 2017 Preview

Ashford completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Ashford finished sixth in Class 4A region two with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Yellow Jackets last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Since 2010, Ashford has gone a combined 38-35. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Ashford has managed to compile a record of 145-128. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 4A and 160th in the AHSAA.

The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach Mitch Sellers who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 24-28 over the past five seasons at Ashford. Under his direction the Yellow Jackets have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sellers.

Coach Sellers' overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 24-28 (46.2%).

The Ashford Yellow Jackets will play in Class 4A region two during the 2017 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Yellow Jackets if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

The Yellow Jackets open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Rehobeth on Friday, August 25 at W.H. Brown Field. Last year the Rehobeth Rebels finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region two.

Ashford and Rehobeth have met a total of 76 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 43-31-2 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2016 with Ashford winning by a score of 27-21.
