2017 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rehobeth finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Rehobeth finished sixth in Class 5A region two with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Rebels last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Rehobeth was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Rebels want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.1 points a game. Since 2010, the Rehobeth football program has struggled with a record of 16-55. Over the past 25 seasons, Rehobeth has managed to compile a record of 110-166. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 5A and 287th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2005. The Rebels are led by head coach Frankie Clark who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-28 over the past four seasons at Rehobeth. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Clark. Coach Clark's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 13-28 (31.7%). The Rehobeth Rebels will play in Class 5A region two during the 2017 season. The Rebels have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 62-46 last season. That ranks 6th in Class 5A and 48th in the AHSAA. The Rebels enter the 2017 season in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. It will be an uphill battle for the Rebels if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. After just 2 wins last year, Rehobeth will be hoping to become more competitive in the region. The Rebels open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Ashford on Friday, August 25 at W.H. Brown Field. Last year the Ashford Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region two. The Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season with a loss to Wicksburg by a score of 45-14. Rehobeth and Ashford have met a total of 76 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 31-43-2 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2016 with Ashford winning by a score of 27-21. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
