Vigor completed the 2015 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region one, the Wolves earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Vigor reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Demopolis by a score of 28-17. The defense was very stingy last season as Vigor ranked 34th in the AHSAA. The defense allowed only 14.5 points a game. Since 2010, Vigor has gone a combined 42-29. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Vigor has gone a combined 209-89. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class 5A and 32nd in the AHSAA. The Wolves have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. The Wolves are led by head coach Deric Scott who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Vigor. The Wolves saw improvement from a 5-5 record the season before coach Scott arrived. Under his direction the Wolves have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Scott. Coach Scott's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 7-4 (63.6%). The Vigor Wolves will play in Class 5A region one during the 2016 season. The Wolves should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Wolves open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Blount on Friday, August 19 at Prichard Stadium. Last year the Blount Leopards finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in second place in Class 6A region one. The Leopards lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Bessemer City by a score of 10-7. Vigor and Blount have met a total of 52 times on the football field. The Wolves have a 38-14-0 record against the Leopards. They last met in 2013 with Blount winning by a score of 40-13.
