Samson completed the 2015 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region two, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Samson's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Pickens County by a score of 38-32. The Tigers won as many games as in any season since 2000. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 1996 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Samson has gone a combined 32-31. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 2A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Samson has managed to compile a record of 118-144. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 2A and 234th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach Chris Littleton who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Samson. The Tigers saw improvement from a 3-7 record the season before coach Littleton arrived. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Littleton. Over the course of his career, Coach Littleton's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Samson Tigers will play in Class 2A region two during the 2016 season. The Tigers enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak. The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. Quarterback JT Wise returns for his senior season after completing 84 of 129 passes for 1,329 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior last season. He also rushed for 884 yards and another 11 touchdowns. The defense will be led by senior linebacker Ricardo Balderrama who registered 120 tackles last season. The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Providence Christian on Friday, August 26 at Alva Hawk Stadium. Last year the Providence Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 2A region two. The Eagles lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Washington County by a score of 48-21. Samson and Providence Christian have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 2-6-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2015 with Providence Christian winning by a score of 20-16. Samson returns 2A All-State Senior offensive lineman Wes Davis.
