2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Phil Campbell completed the 2015 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region eight, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Phil Campbell's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Tanner by a score of 73-7. The Bobcats last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Phil Campbell struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.5 points a game. Since 2010, the Phil Campbell football program has struggled with a record of 16-46. Over the past 25 seasons, Phil Campbell has managed to compile a record of 93-171. Their 35.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 2A and 320th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2001. The Bobcats are led by head coach Ryan Swinney who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-24 over the past three seasons at Phil Campbell. Under his direction the Bobcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Swinney. Coach Swinney's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 8-24 (25.0%). The Phil Campbell Bobcats will play in Class 2A region eight during the 2016 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Bobcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region eight this season. The Bobcats open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Tharptown on Friday, August 19 at Parrish Stadium. Last year the Tharptown Wildcats finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 2A region eight. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Hubbertville by a score of 41-6. Phil Campbell and Tharptown have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 5-1-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2015 with Phil Campbell winning by a score of 47-13. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
