 2016 Preview 


       Last year Woodland finished sixth in Class 2A region 5 with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Woodland has gone a combined 44-28. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Woodland has managed to compile a record of 151-133. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 2A and 153rd in the AHSAA.

       The Bobcats are led by head coach Randy Boyd who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 11-12 over the past two seasons at Woodland. Under his direction the Bobcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Boyd.

       Coach Boyd's overall record as a head football coach in two seasons stands at 11-12 (47.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Boyd's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

      

      The Woodland Bobcats will play in Class 2A region 5 during the 2016 season.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Bobcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in Region 5 this season.

       The Bobcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Wadley on Thursday, August 25 at Curtis Lynch Stadium. Last year the Wadley Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 1A region 5. The Bulldogs lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Cedar Bluff by a score of 34-27.

       Woodland and Wadley have met a total of 80 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 35-43-2 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2023 with Wadley winning by a score of 56-21.
