 2016 Preview 


       With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region 1, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Thomasville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Dadeville by a score of 54-53.  The defense allowed a team record 280 points last season.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Thomasville has gone a combined 49-22. Their 69.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Thomasville has managed to compile a record of 192-104. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 4A and 52nd in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Jack Hankins Jr. who is entering his fourteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 130-44 over the past fourteen seasons at Thomasville. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Hankins Jr..

       Coach Hankins Jr.'s overall record as a head football coach in fourteen seasons stands at 130-44 (74.7%). His 130 wins rank 36th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Hankins Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times and won two region championships.

      

      The Thomasville Tigers will play in Class 4A region 1 during the 2016 season.

       The Tigers should contend for a playoff spot in Region 1 this season.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Sweet Water on Friday, August 26 at Anderson Field. Last year the Sweet Water Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 2A region 1. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Elba by a score of 46-14.

       Thomasville and Sweet Water have met a total of 78 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 63-14-1 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2023 with Thomasville winning by a score of 26-13.

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
