 2016 Preview 


       Last year Ohatchee finished sixth in Class 3A region 6 with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Ohatchee has gone a combined 13-47. Their 22.0% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Ohatchee has managed to compile a record of 111-151. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 3A and 259th in the AHSAA.

       The Indians are led by head coach Scott Martin who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-15 over the past two seasons at Ohatchee. The Indians have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Martin.

       Coach Martin's overall record as a head football coach in six seasons stands at 31-33 (48.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Martin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

      

      The Ohatchee Indians will play in Class 3A region 5 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Indians remain in 3A but move from region 6 over to region 5.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Indians if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in Region 5 this season.

       The Indians open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Ragland on Friday, August 19 at Joan Ford Stadium. Last year the Ragland Purple Devils finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class 1A region 5. The Purple Devils lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Cedar Bluff by a score of 47-26.

       Ohatchee and Ragland have met a total of 29 times on the football field. The Indians have a 26-3-0 record against the Purple Devils. They last met in 2016 with Ohatchee winning by a score of 52-19.

       Ohatchee returns 3A All-State Senior running back Austin Tucker. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Indians also return Senior athlete Taylor Eubanks. He was named to the second team.
