 2016 Preview 


       Last year B.B. Comer finished fifth in Class 3A region 3 with a 2-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, B.B. Comer has gone a combined 19-43. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, B.B. Comer has managed to compile a record of 100-162. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 3A and 295th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Mike Battles Sr. who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at B.B. Comer. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Battles Sr..

       Coach Battles Sr.'s overall record as a head football coach in thirty-one seasons stands at 213-126 -1 (62.8%). His 213 wins rank 9th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Battles Sr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seventeen times and won six region championships.

      

      The B.B. Comer Tigers will play in Class 3A region 3 during the 2016 season.

       The Tigers have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 3 this season.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Weaver on Friday, August 26 at Legion Stadium. Last year the Weaver Bearcats finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 3A region 6. The Bearcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Madison Academy by a score of 56-21.

       B.B. Comer and Weaver have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 3-7-0 record against the Bearcats. They last met in 2018 with Weaver winning by a score of 35-6.
