Week Five of the 2025 football season is in the
history books. The teams take off a week from region play
before the homestretch run. Here are a few tidbits
from this past week's games.
* Many teams are at the halfway point of the
2025 football regular season. Most teams will be playing non-region opponents
this week and will return to region play next week.
* Look for the Barber Shop Guru predictions on
Tuesday. The guys went 7-5 last week with a lot of difficult games chosen. They
will be looking to improve on that record this coming week. You can test your luck in beating them by joining us in the forums.
* Clay-Chalkville beat Brandon Mississippi by a
score of 47-15 while Parker fell to a great Carrollton team from Georgia 43-7. Overall the AHSAA schools are 17-12
against other states. Here
are the records against other states. Georgia (3-6), Florida (9-6), Mississippi
(4-0) and South Carolina (1-0). There are a handful of out of state games on the
slate this week.
* Let's start this off with some comeback wins. Georgiana scored with just
four seconds remaining in the game to defeat Kinston 37-34. Hoover fell
behind 20-0 early but recovered to come away with a 48-23 victory over
Prattville. Citronelle led Vigor 21-20 with 2:30 left in the game before
the Wolves scored twice for a 33-21 victory. Theodore outlasted St. Paul's 42-41
in Mobile.
* Were there any upsets this week? You know there
were. The biggest had to be Jacksonville knocking off favorite Leeds 30-7.
Florence upsetting Bob Jones 24-6. West Blocton surprising Oak Grove 18-17.
Section shocking Cedar Bluff 19-7. Finally, McIntosh picked up a big time
victory over Sweet Water by a score of 26-21.
* How about big time wins? Thompson outmanned
Vestavia Hills 35-3. Central Phenix City outscored Enterprise 53-24.
Jackson got off to a slow start before pulling away from Mobile Christian 42-14.
Piedmont outlasted an excellent Westbrook Christian squad 40-27. Reeltown
outscored Loachapoka 73-49.
* Close games? Guntersville just got past
Arab 14-10. West Morgan came from behind to defeat Hatton 23-24.
Moody beat Helena 31-28 in a great game.
* The offenses were clicking for a few teams.
Southside Selma 62-6 Greensboro. Thomasville 70-0 Wilcox Central. Montgomery
Academy 62-6 Northside Methodist. Oakman 62-13 Hanceville.
* Fyffe has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing
180 consecutive polls dating back to the 2009 season.
The Red Devils opened the 2025 season as the #3 team in
3A before dropping to #6 in recent weeks.
* Wadley
has the state's longest winning streak currently at eighteen games. The
Bulldogs defeated Victory Christian 63-6 last week.
* Columbia holds onto the longest losing streak at 95
straight setbacks. They did not play last week. They hold the
all-time record for consecutive losses.
* Demopolis owns a string of 29 consecutive region victories.
The Tigers got their second region victory on the season with a 40-8 win over
Selma on Friday. Reeltown
with a string of 26 straight region wins is next up.
* Columbia has also lost
57 consecutive region games.
* West Morgan has won
29 straight regular season games following a hard fought 23-14 win over Hatton.
* Saraland, ranked #3 in
6A, have reeled off a string of
35 consecutive home victories following a 43-10 win over McGill-Toolen on
their home field.
* Saraland also has the longest away
winning streak with 15 consecutive road wins. They will travel to Baldwin County
following an open date this coming week.
*
Fyffe has returned to doing what Fyffe does. They are currently sitting on a string of 338 games
without being shutout. The Red Devils knocked off Brindlee Mountain 54-14 to keep that
streak alive. T.R. Miller sits atop this list with a string of 354
games.
* Coach Rush Propst can win the 300th victory on
the gridiron this week. The task may be a little difficult as the Conquerors
play host to 6A Blount.
* Coach Bryan Moore at Opelika has amassed 99 victories over the
past eleven seasons at four different schools. The Bulldogs host Pike Road on
Friday.

Bullock County has started the season 5-0 for the first time since 1972 when
they finished the season with a 9-1 record.
* Jason Massey won the 100th game of his coaching career as
Clarke County defeated J.U. Blacksher 21-0 on Friday night. His overall record
at Leroy and Clarke County is 100-54 in thirteen seasons.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
