Chickasaw completed the 2025 season with a 4-7 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region one, the Chieftains earned a spot in the playoffs in 2025. Chickasaw's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Cottonwood by a score of 46-7. The Chieftains have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2026. Chickasaw was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Chieftains want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.1 points a game. Chickasaw is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only twelve seasons. They have managed a record of 54-72 over the past twelve years. Over the past 12 seasons, Chickasaw has managed to compile a record of 54-72. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 2A and 265th in the AHSAA. The Chieftains have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. Head Coach: The Chieftains are led by head coach Dedrick Sumpter who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-14 over the past two seasons at Chickasaw. Under his direction the Chieftains have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sumpter. Over the course of his career, Coach Sumpter's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won one region championship. Season Outlook: The Chickasaw Chieftains will play in Class 2A region one during the 2026 season. The Chieftains could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season with a few breaks and a little improvement.
Season Opener: The Chieftains open the 2026 season at home against non-region opponent Satsuma on Friday, August 21 at Dotson Field. Last year the Satsuma Gators finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 4A region one. The Gators ended last season on a positive note with a win over Chickasaw by a score of 28-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Chickasaw and Satsuma have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Chieftains have a 1-8-0 record against the Gators. They last met in 2025 with Satsuma winning by a score of 28-13. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
