Alma Bryant finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Alma Bryant finished eighth in Class 7A region one with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Hurricanes have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2013 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Hurricanes last playoff victory came during the 1999 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Alma Bryant was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Hurricanes want to be competitive. They only averaged 19.9 points a game. Since 2010, the Alma Bryant football program has struggled with a record of 36-125. Over the past 25 seasons, Alma Bryant has not won much with a record of 64-188. Their 25.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 6A and 385th in the AHSAA. The Hurricanes have struggled on the football field with only one winning season during this time. Their last winning season was 2003. Head Coach: The Hurricanes are led by head coach Bart Sessions who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-36 over the past five seasons at Alma Bryant. The Hurricanes have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sessions. Over the course of his career, Coach Sessions' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won two region championships. Season Outlook: The Alma Bryant Hurricanes will play in Class 6A region one during the 2026 season. It's been a while since the Hurricanes have had much to cheer about in south Mobile County. With the expanded 7A playoffs could this be the year they get over that hump and qualify for a playoff spot in November? The Hurricanes won three games last year all in non-region play. They will need to improve on that record if they have any hopes of grabbing one of the six playoff spots in region one this year. Jayden James rushed for 1,047 yards and 3 TDs and will return for his Senior season. This season, the Hurricanes will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The Coach had this to say:
This will be the deepest and most talented team we in our tenure here. Although we will be extremely young and inexperienced in spots, we believe we can compete with anyone in 6A Region 1. We return a 2 year starter at QB and have several offensive skill players that can score from anywhere on the field. Our defense is very talented but also inexperienced. If we can grow up on defense we have a real chance t have a great season.
Season Opener:
The Hurricanes open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent St. Pauls on Friday, August 21 at E.E. Delaney Field. Last year the St. Pauls Saints finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 6A region one. The Saints ended last season on a positive note with a win over Spanish Fort by a score of 28-24 after failing to gain a playoff spot.
Alma Bryant and St. Pauls have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Hurricanes have a 0-5-0 record against the Saints. They last met in 2015 with St. Pauls winning by a score of 40-10.
