2026 Preview

Foley completed the 2025 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Foley finished sixth in Class 7A region one with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.        Foley took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2020.        Foley was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Lions want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.6 points a game.        Since 2010, Foley has gone a combined 83-88. Their 48.5% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 6A over the past sixteen seasons.        Over the past 25 seasons, Foley has managed to compile a record of 133-134. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 6A and 198th in the AHSAA. Coaching Change:      Deric Scott  and Foley parted ways after six seasons. The Lions were 4-6 and missed the playoffs for the third straight season under Coach Scott. Foley will be headed a in different direction hoping to get back to winning playoff games something they have not seen since 2014 when Todd Watson left the program. Over the past ten seasons the Lions are just 2-51 against teams with a winning record. That is not going to be acceptable to the proud fans from Lion Land. 2026 Head Coach:     Bryan Moore  arrives in Foley with hopes of turning around a program that has fallen on tough times over the past decade. He will bring with him a winning attitude and a record for being competitive even in the highest classifications. Moore has a dozen seasons under his belt as a head coach with an impressive 105-28 record. Each of his teams have won at least seven games and qualified for the playoffs each season. His 105 wins rank 45th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Moore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times and won four region championships. Season Outlook:        The Foley Lions will play in Class 6A region one during the 2026 season.        The Lions have one of the toughest overall schedules in Class 6A. Their opponents had a combined record of 71-42 last season. That ranks 5th in Class 6A and 20th in the AHSAA.        The last time the Lions won a playoff games was way back in 2014 when Todd Watson was the head coach. Since he moved on they have only reached the playoffs twice without winning a game.        The fans should be excited down in south Baldwin County as a new coach will bring changes quickly to the football fortunes in Foley. Anything short of a playoff spot will be a huge disappointment for the Lions. Look for the fans to very happy when November rolls around in 2026.     The Lions should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. Foley has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2022 but have hopes of returning to the post season this year.

      It's a fresh start, expectations are centered on building a strong foundation. The team is learning new systems both offensively and defensively , developing team chemistry, and embracing a new culture of accountability and hard work. While there may be growing pains early in the season, the focus is on improving each week, competing at a high level, and establishing a standard that will lead to long-term success.

Season Opener:
       The Lions open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent McGill-Toolen on Friday, August 21 at Lipscomb Park. Last year the McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 6A region one. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Pike Road by a score of 28-10.

       Foley and McGill-Toolen have met a total of 36 times on the football field. The Lions have a 14-21-1 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2019 with McGill-Toolen winning by a score of 42-0.
