South Lamar completed the 2025 season with a 4-7 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region five, the Stallions earned a spot in the playoffs in 2025. South Lamar's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Wadley by a score of 56-8. South Lamar struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 36.2 points a game. Since 2010, South Lamar has gone a combined 80-98. Their 44.9% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 1A over the past sixteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, South Lamar has managed to compile a record of 131-145. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 1A and 210th in the AHSAA. Head Coach: The Stallions are led by head coach Clay Gilliam who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 61-53 over the past ten seasons at South Lamar. Under his direction the Stallions have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times. They have won one region crown with Coach Gilliam. Season Outlook: The South Lamar Stallions will play in Class 1A region five during the 2026 season. Season Opener:
The Stallions open the 2026 season at home against non-region opponent Lamar County on Friday, August 21 at J.C. McAdams Field. Last year the Lamar County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class 2A region five. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to Marion County by a score of 40-36.
South Lamar and Lamar County have met a total of 42 times on the football field. The Stallions have a 20-22-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2025 with Lamar County winning by a score of 12-7.
