2026 Preview

Danville finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. Last year Danville finished eighth in Class 4A region seven with a 1-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.        The Hawks last playoff victory came during the 1994 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.        Danville was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Hawks want to be competitive. They only averaged 16.2 points a game.        Danville struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 40.1 points a game.        Since 2010, Danville has gone a combined 48-114. Their 29.6% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 3A over the past sixteen seasons.        Over the past 25 seasons, Danville has not won much with a record of 81-173. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 53rd in Class 3A and 343rd in the AHSAA. Coaching Change:      Andro Williams  leaves Danville after five seasons with a record of 16-35. The Hawks will be in search of only the eighth coach since the school began playing varsity football in 1976. The Hawks' last winning season came in 2009 and they have just four playoff appearances since 2000. 2026 Head Coach:     Blake Beam 's first head-coaching job will be leading the Danville Hawks in 2026. He was most recently an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Fayette County High School. Before that he had stops at Arab, Boaz and Helena. Season Outlook:        The Danville Hawks will play in Class 3A region five during the 2026 season.               Last year opened with a lot of optimism in Danville and the Hawks were thought to be one of the better teams in Region Five. It did not materialize so much as they fell to 2-8 and missed the post season for the third straight year.     The Hawks will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season. After just 2 wins last year, Danville will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

Season Opener:
       The Hawks open the 2026 season at home against non-region opponent Falkville on Friday, August 28 at Smith-Owens Stadium. Last year the Falkville Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class 2A region six. The Blue Devils lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Vincent by a score of 34-6.

       Danville and Falkville have met a total of 50 times on the football field. The Hawks have a 28-22-0 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2023 with Falkville winning by a score of 49-12.
