 2022 Preview 


       Lowndes Academy completed the 2021 season with a 11-3 record. Last year Lowndes Academy captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Rebels since the 2004 season. The Lowndes Academy Rebels claimed the AISA-A State Championship by defeating Jackson Academy 21-6 in Troy.

       No team at Lowndes Academy ever won more games in a season than the eleven victories last year. The last time they won as many was back in 2006. The Rebels hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Moye saw improvement as they won eleven games following a 5-7 record in 2020.

       Since 2010, Lowndes Academy has gone a combined 65-66. Their 49.6% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Lowndes Academy has managed to compile a record of 155-124. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class A and 15th in the AISA.




       The Rebels are led by head coach Shane Moye who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 26-20 over the past four seasons at Lowndes Academy. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won one region crown with Coach Moye. Coach Moye led to a state championship in 2021.

       Coach Moye's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 26-20 (56.5%).

       The Lowndes Academy Rebels will play in Class A region one during the 2022 season.

       The Rebels enter the 2022 season riding a 9 game winning streak. They have also won 6 consecutive regular season games.

       The Rebels should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. Don't be surprised if the Rebels are making another deep run into the playoffs.

       The Rebels open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Macon-East Academy on Friday, August 19 at Knight Field. Last year the Macon-East Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in second place in Class AA region one. The Knights lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Patrician Academy by a score of 44-7.

       Lowndes Academy and Macon-East Academy have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 3-7-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2021 with Macon-East Academy winning by a score of 20-12.

       Lowndes Academy returns AISA All-State Junior defensive back Clayton Hussey. He was named to the first team last season. The Rebels also return Junior linebacker Cooper Dansby. He was named to the honorable mention team. The Rebels also return Senior defensive lineman Trey Thomas. He was named to the honorable mention team. The Rebels also return sophomore kicker Watters Box. He was named to the honorable mention team.
