 2022 Preview

Abbeville Christian finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record.

The Generals hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just two games which followed a 10-3 record in 2020.

Since 2010, Abbeville Christian has gone a combined 72-70. Their 50.7% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA over the past twelve seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Abbeville Christian has managed to compile a record of 118-154. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AA and 22nd in the AISA.

The Generals will be under the direction of new head football coach Matthew Mims as they enter the 2022 season.

The Abbeville Christian Generals will play in Class AA region one during the 2022 season. The Generals move up in classification to Class AA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Generals could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Abbeville Christian came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

The Generals open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Coosa Valley Academy on Friday, August 19 at Don Greene/Rebels Stadium. Last year the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in third place in Class A region one. The Rebels lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Sparta Academy by a score of 42-14.

Abbeville Christian and Coosa Valley Academy have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Generals have a 6-4-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2021 with Coosa Valley Academy winning by a score of 55-24.
