2022 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Valley completed the 2021 season with a 4-5 record. Last year Valley finished sixth in Class 6A region two with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Valley averaged scoring just 9.3 points a game. Since 2010, Valley has gone a combined 55-71. Their 43.7% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Valley has managed to compile a record of 134-134. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 27th in Class 5A and 194th in the AHSAA. The Rams are led by head coach Adam Hunter who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-10 over the past two seasons at Valley. The Rams have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hunter. Coach Hunter's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 8-10 (44.4%). The Valley Rams will play in Class 5A region four during the 2022 season. The Rams may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region four this year. With a little luck and some improvement, the Rams could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region four this season. Valley missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2022. The Rams open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Handley on Friday, August 19 at Wright Field. Last year the Handley Tigers finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in first place in Class 4A region four. The Tigers lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Jackson by a score of 24-23. Valley and Handley have met a total of 39 times on the football field. The Rams have a 29-10-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2005 with Handley winning by a score of 25-6. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
