Sparkman completed the 2021 season with a 4-7 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 7A region four, the Senators earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Sparkman's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hoover by a score of 56-14. The Senators lost as many games as in any season since 2014. Since 2010, Sparkman has gone a combined 46-78. Their 37.1% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 7A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Sparkman has managed to compile a record of 100-159. Their 39.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 7A and 290th in the AHSAA. The Senators are led by head coach Laron White who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 29-25 over the past five seasons at Sparkman. Under his direction the Senators have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach White. Coach White's overall record as a head football coach in nineteen season stands at 177-55 (76.3%). His 177 wins rank 19th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach White's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eighteen times and won nine region championships. Coach White won two state championships prior to arriving at Sparkman, the last coming in 2013 at Tanner. The Sparkman Senators will play in Class 7A region four during the 2022 season. The Senators will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. The Senators open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hazel Green on Friday, August 19 at Bob Grimwood Stadium. Last year the Hazel Green Trojans finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 6A region eight. The Trojans closed out the regular season with a loss to Grissom by a score of 40-34. Sparkman and Hazel Green have met a total of 62 times on the football field. The Senators have a 39-23-0 record against the Trojans. They last met in 2019 with Sparkman winning by a score of 48-14. Sparkman returns 7A All-State receiver Matthew Rozier.
