2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Huntsville finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Huntsville finished sixth in Class 7A region four with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Panthers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Huntsville has gone a combined 52-75. Their 40.9% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 7A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Huntsville has managed to compile a record of 132-138. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 7A and 200th in the AHSAA. The Panthers are led by head coach Mark Fleetwood who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-32 over the past five seasons at Huntsville. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Fleetwood. Coach Fleetwood's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 19-32 (37.3%). The Huntsville Panthers will play in Class 7A region four during the 2022 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Panthers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region four this season. The Panthers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Oxford on Friday, August 26 at Milton Frank Stadium. Last year the Oxford Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in first place in Class 6A region seven. The Yellow Jackets lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Pinson Valley by a score of 20-0. Huntsville and Oxford have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 0-6-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2013 with Oxford winning by a score of 42-14. Huntsville returns 7A All-State receiver Kam White. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
