 2022 Preview 


       Macon-East Academy completed the 2021 season with a 7-5 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class AA region one, the Knights earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Macon-East Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Patrician Academy by a score of 44-7.

       Since 2010, Macon-East Academy has gone a combined 65-67. Their 49.2% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class AA over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Macon-East Academy has managed to compile a record of 168-111. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA and 9th in the AISA.




       The Knights are led by head coach Glynn Lott who is entering his twenty-seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 170-118 over the past twenty-six seasons at Macon-East Academy. Under his direction the Knights have qualified for the playoffs a total of eighteen times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Lott. Coach Lott led to a state championship in 2000.

       Coach Lott's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-six season stands at 170-118 (59.0%). His 170 wins rank 3rd among active coaches in the AISA.

       The Macon-East Academy Knights will play in Class AA region one during the 2022 season.

       The Knights should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Knights open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Lowndes Academy on Friday, August 19 at Knight Field. Last year the Lowndes Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 11-3 and in first place in Class A region one. The Rebels won the Class A State Championship last season when they defeated Jackson Academy by a score of 21-6 in Troy.

       Macon-East Academy and Lowndes Academy have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Knights have a 7-3-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2021 with Macon-East Academy winning by a score of 20-12.

       Macon-East Academy returns AISA All-State Senior running back Gabe Spencer. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
