Hartselle completed the 2021 season with a 10-1 record. The Tigers cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Hartselle captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 6A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. Hartselle's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Gardendale by a score of 35-28. The high-scoring Hartselle offense ranked 16th in the AHSAA. They averaged 41.1 points a game. Since 2010, Hartselle has gone a combined 104-38. Their 73.2% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Hartselle has gone a combined 198-93. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 6A and 53rd in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. The Tigers are led by head coach Bryan Moore who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-5 over the past two seasons at Hartselle. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Moore. Coach Moore's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 65-17 (79.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Moore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times and won three region championships. The Hartselle Tigers will play in Class 6A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Tigers remain in 6A but move from region eight over to region seven. The Tigers enter the 2022 season riding a 13 game regular season winning streak. Hartselle has won 10 consecutive region games. The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region seven championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Austin on Friday, August 19 at J.P. Cain Stadium. Last year the Austin Black Bears finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 7A region four. The Black Bears closed out the regular season with a loss to Mountain Brook by a score of 34-0. Hartselle and Austin have met a total of 58 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 32-25-1 record against the Black Bears. They last met in 2021 with Hartselle winning by a score of 29-0. Hartselle returns 6A All-State Senior kicker Crawford Lang. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Tigers also return Senior receiver Izayah Fletcher. He was named to the second team.
