2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gadsden City completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Gadsden City finished sixth in Class 7A region three with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Titans improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2016. Since 2010, Gadsden City has gone a combined 63-69. Their 47.7% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 16 seasons, Gadsden City has managed to compile a record of 100-81. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 6A and 144th in the AHSAA. The Titans are led by head coach Ali Smith who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 9-21 over the past three seasons at Gadsden City. The Titans have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Smith. Coach Smith's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 9-21 (30.0%). The Gadsden City Titans will play in Class 6A region eight during the 2022 season. The Titans may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 7A to 6A. They will compete in region eight this year. The Titans have one of the toughest schedules in Class 6A. Their opponents had a combined record of 70-44 last season. That ranks 8th in Class 6A and 29th in the AHSAA. The Titans should be in contention for a playoff spot in region eight this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. Gadsden City has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2016 but have hopes of returning to the post season this year. The Titans open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Carrollton GA on Friday, August 19 at Titan Stadium. This will be the second meeting between Gadsden City and Carrollton GA on the football field. The Titans have a 0-1-0 record against Carrollton GA.
