 2022 Preview 


       Edgewood Academy completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AA region one, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Edgewood Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Escambia Academy by a score of 60-7.

       Edgewood Academy took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2017.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Edgewood Academy has gone a combined 109-39. Their 73.6% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AA over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Edgewood Academy has gone a combined 198-96. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AA and 4th in the AISA.




       The Wildcats are led by head coach Chad Michael who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 12-10 over the past two seasons at Edgewood Academy. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Michael.

       Coach Michael's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 17-25 (40.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Michael's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Edgewood Academy Wildcats will play in Class AA region one during the 2022 season.

       The Wildcats will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season.

       The Wildcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Autauga Academy on Friday, August 26 at Edgewood Stadium. Last year the Autauga Academy Generals finished with an overall record of 13-0 and in first place in Class AA region two. The Generals won the Class AA State Championship last season when they defeated Escambia Academy by a score of 52-35 in Troy.

       Edgewood Academy and Autauga Academy have met a total of 41 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 12-29-0 record against the Generals. They last met in 2019 with Autauga Academy winning by a score of 48-9.
