 2016 Preview

St. Luke's finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 2-7 record. Last year St. Luke's finished eighth in Class 2A region one with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

St. Luke's took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2011. No team at St. Luke's ever lost more games in a season than the seven they lost last year.

St. Luke's was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Wildcats want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.8 points a game.

Since 2010, St. Luke's has gone a combined 28-32. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

The Wildcats are led by head coach Ronn Lee who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-7 record in his first season at St. Luke's. The Wildcats have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Lee.

Coach Lee's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-one season stands at 98-126 (43.8%). Over the course of his career, Coach Lee's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won one region championship.

If St. Luke's can win two games this season, Coach Lee will reach the 100 win milestone.

The St. Luke's Wildcats will play in Class 2A region one during the 2016 season.

This season, the Wildcats will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one.

The Wildcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Kinston on Friday, August 26 at Kinston Stadium. Last year the Kinston Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 1A region two. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Maplesville by a score of 49-12.

This will be the second meeting between St. Lukes and Kinston on the football field. The Wildcats have a 1-0-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in with
