Alabama High School Football Head Coaches

C.A. Douglas

Curtis Allen "C.A." Douglas was born December 20, 1905. He was a star in every sport at Parrish high school. He graduated from Howard College and became the head football coach at Cordova High School in 1936. Over the next eleven season as the head coach of the Blue Devils, his teams compiled a 57-35-6 record.

From 1947 to 1948, Douglas served as the head football coach at Livingston State. During his two season there, he compiled a record of three wins, thirteen losses and one tie.

Douglas returned to the high school ranks in 1949, for three seasons, as the head coach of the Carbon Hill Bulldogs. His three teams produce a 18-10-2 slate.

When Douglas came to Theodore in 1952, the Bobcats were a second-year program with little experience on the football field. That previous year they played mostly a B-team schedule. Over the next seveneen years he built the Theodore program into one of the best in the Mobile area.

In his first year, his Bobcats finished the 1952 season with a 9-1 records. His 1955 squad went 8-0-1 and the next year finished 8-1-1. Douglas went on to lead Theodore to a 99-56-11 record in 17 years at the school. He also coached basketball and baseball at Theodore.

Coach Douglas overall record is 175-101-19 in 31 seasons as a head football coach. The football field at Theodore is named in Coach Douglas honor. Douglas was honored as the first inductee into the Theodore High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. Larche honored Douglas by bestowing their Lifetime Achievement Award to him in 2007.

Douglas, passed away June 28, 2000.
