Week 8

The 2015 regular season is winding toward the playoffs. Here are a few tidbits from week eight action.

   *  The Fyffe Red Devils have a string of 202 games in which they have scored dating to 10/22/1999. They extended the streak with a 48-0 shutout of Valley Head. Brantley is in second at 182 games followed by Calera (163), Demopolis (160) and Prattville (155).

   *  Clay-Chalkville, retains their hold on of the longest winning streak in the AHSAA at 22 games after defeating Shades Valley 52-14. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 66 game winning streak following a 61-16 dismantling of Northside Methodist Academy.

   *   Holly Pond has lost twenty-seven consecutive football games after a close 29-25 loss to Vinemont. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 44 consecutive region games in a row following a 34-6 loss to St. James.

   *   Guntersville stretched their regular season winning streak to 25 games thumping Fairview 45-0 on Saturday night.. Edgewood Academy has won 51 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 46 consecutive region wins after beating Southeastern 70-0. 

   *   Muscle Shoals has a string of 36 straight home field wins over the past five seasons after defeating Decatur 28-0 on their home turf.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 21 consecutive road games following their home win over Blount. Edgewood Academy has a string of 37 straight wins on the road.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 69 straight games. The Cougars also hold the state record for scoring at least 30 points in consecutive games with a string of 27. Both are AHSAA state records.

   *   Edgewood Academy has scored at least thirty points in 27 straight games in the AISA. That mark topped their record 26 game streak between 2011-12. Edgewood has also scored at least twenty points in 65 consecutive games.

   *   Keith Etheredge, the head football coach at Leeds won his 100th game as a head coach and has a record of 100-34 at the school in only 10 seasons.

   *   Jamie Riggs, the head coach at T.R. Miller, racked up his 302nd win on Friday. He is tied with Coach Glenn Daniel for third place all time in wins.

   *   Sheffield won the 500th game in school history according to our records. Their overall records stands at 500-420-33 in 98 seasons of playing football.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Thomasville scored 54 points against Gulf Shores in the first quarter of a game in 2003. They managed to hang on for an 81-14 win.
