Week 4

The 2015 season is well underway. Here are a few tidbits from week four's action.

   *  Clay-Chalkville, a 41-7 winner over Huffman gains sole possession of the longest winning streak in the AHSAA following St. Paul's 23-7 loss to Jackson over the weekend. The Cougars streak is now eighteen games. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 62 game winning streak following a 67-0 victory over Evangel Christian Academy.

   *   Holly Pond has lost twenty-three consecutive football games after a 32-6 loss to Collinsville. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 41 consecutive region games in a row.

   *  The Maplesville Red Devils have won 27 straight regular season games after defeating Keith 41-0. They are well short of the 56 game mark set by Prattville a few seasons back. Edgewood Academy has won 47 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 43 consecutive region wins after a 52-21 beat down of Addison in region play.

   *   Maplesville has also won 44 consecutive home games following another victory on their home turf Friday night.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 20 consecutive road games. Edgewood Academy has a string of 35 straight wins on the road after chalking up another on Friday.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 66 straight games with their win over Huffman. The win extends their AHSAA state record.

   *   Edgewood Academy has scored at least thirty points in 23 straight games in the AISA. That mark is just short of their record 26 game streak between 2011-12. Edgewood has also scored at least twenty points in 61 consecutive games.

   *   The consecutive game scoring leader, the Hoover Bucs extended their streak to 320 games dating to 9/27/1991. The last time Hoover was shutout came against Hewitt-Trussville by a score of 13-0 some 24 years ago. The Bucs defeated Oak Mountain 17-14 on Friday.

   *   According to our records, Handley won their 500th game on Friday with a 42-6 win over Childersburg.

   *   Tim Carter, the head football coach at Fairhope won his 100th game. He now has an overall record of 100-55.

   *   Something new we will be adding to the Tidbits each week..... We will mention teams that pulled off memorable upsets of ranked teams and the last time they pulled it off if it has been a while. We will also mention the last time a team was shutout and the last time a team shutout an opponent if those two have not happened recently. So here we go.....

   *  Georgiana upset #5 Brantley by a score of 29-18. The last time they defeated a ranked team was in the playoffs during the 2009 season when the upset #6 Loachapoka 17-0.

   *  Priceville defeated North Jackson 43-40 in a shootout. It is the school's first ever victory over a top ten team in football.

   *  Mary Montgomery did something the Vikings had not done since at least 1984 when they beat #6 Foley 31-30. The Vikings had never beaten a ranked team and were 0-42 against top ten teams.
